Reading and its affect on my life

I have always been a reader.  When I was 4, I learned how.  My father held the utmost importance on education and my 1st grade teacher had stressed the doors that could be opened with reading. I never really stopped, but I had lost interest in books that once held me. In the last few years I picked up a few books and the time to read them and here I am. 2011 is going to be my year to catch up. With both the kids in school for 6 hours a day, and studies coming from everywhere saying how important it is for children to see their parents leading by example... I think its just time. I love reading. The possibilities of one persons imagination come to life in my head as the words melt off the pages. I got a Nook color for Christmas... I was so happy to have it and Jesse and the kids new I would be... I asked Santa for it and everything. I also got gift cards to go with it to get started building my library. OMG I love it! I love everything else I got as well.. Jewelry from Jesse and the kids, Perfume from Jesse, Brittany and Elliot... Shelby got me a cover for my Nook with Famous authors signatures on it. It was a wonderful year for Christmas. Even with my mom. That almost never happens.

In 2011 I am going to read... that is my commitment to myself (and secretly, my kids.. but like vegetables, dont tell them me reading is good for them too). I have joined online book clubs and reading challenges. The last challenged I signed on for maxes out at 200 books.. I read really fast and my library is already overflowing the shelves. There are a few dozen series I would like to explore... I just adore a good series. Especially if its long. I get so attached to charachters.

In 2010... I read alot... due in large part to Jesses video game habits and my lack of better things to do... also, I broke my foot at the start of summer and tv can only be SO interesting before I throw a lawn dart through the center of it. I read all of:

The Immortals Series by Alyson Noel... up to current anyway...  (5)
The House of Night Series by Kristin Cast and P.C. Cast.. Up to current    (7)
The Vampire Academy Series  by Richelle Mead    (6)
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer
Dark Visions by L.J. Smith  (3)
Kisses from Hell Anthology
My Blood Approves Series by Amanda Hocking  (3 so far but I have the last one and 2 days left in the year)
Dead until Dark by Charlaine Harris  (Book 1 of Sookie Stackhouse)
Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
thats... 28  (probably)

I also started:
Wuthering Heights
Persuasion
The Pagan Stone (before I realized it was a series)
A Bite to Remember  (before I realized it was a series)
and...
Hyperspace... but this one is about quantum physics and the 10th dimension and I have to read it slowly cuz Im not Michio Kaku. Or my brother for that matter seeing as how he jacked it and completely understands it.

So heres to 2011 and giving me a little more time for me... CHEERS!

  1. If you like series so much you might give the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward a chance if you haven't all ready. Looks like you read a lot of YA paranormals Ward just steps is up and gives us a much sexier series. Her world building is amazing though. I think there are ...8 books out all ready. :D
